Daniel Hostetler began his Logotherapy studies at the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy in 2017 having had extended, lived experience in what Dr. Frankl called the Existential Vacuum. After fulfilling all the course requirements, he was awarded the Diplomate in Logotherapy in 2019. Mr. Hostetler’s professional accomplishments include serving for 10 years as the longest standing President and Chairman of the Board of the Southern European Division of one of the world’s oldest international business consulting firms headquartered in Milan, Italy. However, this experience brought little life satisfaction or happiness. He then opened and shuttered two nationally acclaimed firms, both Forbes and Inc. award winners only to realize that material gain was but an illusion that was distracting him from any life purpose and meaning.
Mr. Hostetler’s undergraduate degree in Business Administration and master’s degree in Nonprofit Management propelled him into the nonprofit world when he entered the realm of Behavioral Sciences and Addiction Treatment. He went on to achieve Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and Certified Co-occurring Disorders Professional (CODP) certificates which, along with his Diplomate in Logotherapy, have become a centerpiece of his work as CEO of Above and Beyond Family Recovery Center, located in Chicago, Illinois. Logotherapy is a mandatory and central piece of the unique programming at this outpatient, harm-reduction non-profit organization (501C3) which offers free addiction treatment services to those who cannot pay (usually homeless and formerly incarcerated). Local and national curiosity is being drawn to the outstanding and sustained successful outcomes that this center produces, which are due in large part to the life work of Dr. Viktor Frankl.
Today, this incorporation of Logotherapy into the core of the center’s clinical protocol has been responsible for widespread acclaim, which includes National Association of Addiction Professionals (NAADAC) “Organization of the Year”; Illinois Association of Addiction Professionals (IAAP) “Program of the Year”; 4 years running as“Best and Brightest Place to Work in Chicago”; and the prestigious “Chicago Innovation Award”.
In addition, Above and Beyond Family Recovery Center’s unique intern program now works integrally with the advanced degree psychology programs of 11 universities by offering an intern program that exposes their students to Logotherapy in action. There is an average of 30 master’s degree students per cohort; many of these interns consider that their experience at Above and Beyond Family Recovery Center is their most useful psychological tool.
